The Best Three Content Management System

In my previous post about Content Management System (CMS), I discuss the different features a CMS can offer. There are so many CMS that exist today and among them are WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla.

If you are planning to build a website without any knowledge on programming especially on PHP and MySQL, these three CMS is the answer to your needs.
WordPress is one of the best and widely used CMS now a day. It is the favorite of many bloggers who run a blog site. The same with other CMS, WordPress allows you to create content easily using a simple HTML editor. It also allows you to use different kind of plugins to power up your website. Examples of these are: Smart Youtube PRO, W3 Total Cache, Google XML Sitemaps and many more.

Drupal, on the other hand is the most powerful CMS among the three. I have tested all three CMS and all I can say; drupal is the best compare with other CMS out there. It is the best because you can create a custom content type. And you can configure every content type that you have created. Example by adding an image upload field type. Unlike with other CMS, drupal allows you to create your own design when adding a new post. Same with WordPress, Drupal allows you to add module (plugin) to extend the functionality of Drupal.

Joomla is also well known as it is a second CMS next to WordPress. It has been downloaded over 30 million times as of March 2012. Joomla is a fork of Mambo (where I first started using CMS). With over 9,000 extensions, both free and commercial, Joomla has become a widely used CMS around the world.

The three CMS mentioned above are based on PHP and MySQL. It uses object-oriented program (OOP) approach.

The negative impact with programmer by using CMS is you allow yourself to rely on other’s work. Instead of making your own webpage built with PHP/MySQL. But if you want a finished and secure website, a CMS is the best solution.

CMS also consumes a lot of memory because of so many extensions. That’s why you have to consider the server that you are using. If you want to host your website abroad, I recommend Hostgator.com.
