It is rumored that the Windows Defender will be automatically activated by Microsoft for those PCs that are left behind in the update. This news came out by Microsoft on Monday Afternoon.
The security officials at Microsoft were speaking about this on their latest Security Intelligence Report and it is scheduled to be released today. As per Microsoft’s policy, they want to move their users from Windows XP to a new and more secure operating system. It is recommended by Microsoft that you start using Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 instead of Windows XP because the latest versions of Windows OS are more secure than the previous ones.
There are a lot of security holes found in Windows XP and Microsoft is trying its best to shut down the roots towards those security loop holes. It is also announced that in April 2014, the backend support for Windows XP will be discontinued by Microsoft. After that, no security will be provided to Windows XP users as Microsoft will be concentrating on its latest operating systems.
The first priority of Microsoft is to make sure that its consumers are using the anti-malware services and programs provided by Microsoft only. During last few years, the users have established relationships with third party antivirus and antimalware programs which itself is a threat for Microsoft and its users.
Stewart Said, “As a customer goes into an unprotected state, we want those antivirus vendors to be installed as the first upgrade source”. If the license of a user has expired then the first thing Microsoft will ask them to do is to go and upgrade the antivirus program.
Not only Microsoft will ask the users to activate the Windows Defender program on their computer but if a user is in an unprotected space, the Windows Defender will be turned on automatically too.
