So You Want To Become A Programmer? Read This…

If you really want to become a programmer, you have to read lot of books, tutorials, or any materials that you think will work for you. Even this article… But…the majority of us hate reading. Even me, I’d rather read other materials than to read programming books, tutorials or the like. The odd part is you need to read and continue reading like what you are doing now, even it annoys you. Way back when I first started coding with Pascal programming language, I’m very disappointed when I found out, that this language don’t have the help file included. Not that it lacks the manual itself, it just that the help file is missing. So what I did, I bought a book about Pascal. It really helps me a lot, but not totally – a lot. Why? The problem is, I don’t have my own computer during that time. I’m just a student and the price of personal computer cost around 45k to 50k in Philippine Peso. I can’t even afford 5k. The hardest part here is our school doesn’t even have enough computers for 30 students. If I remembered well, we have only 15 computers. And we have a very limited time for hands on. But since I have the passion, motivation, dedication, or whatever “ion” you may call it, our instructor allow me to use the computer outside our schedule in exchange for the maintenance of the computer in the laboratory. During this time, we don’t have access to the internet. Not because it’s a stone age, but because every school in the Philippines is behind this new technology. If I had only the access to the Internet, maybe I learned more than what I have learned today. So the lesson here is you must be resourceful even in bad time.

My Advice to College Students

The time has passed when the lack of resources during our time were already solved over time. The computer become so cheap that even elementary pupil could afford it, with an added access to the Internet. The only problem that you are facing now is on how you maximize your time to study every programming language that you dreamed of. Follow this simple guide: Buy a book Read tutorials online Devote at least two hours a day Learn the language until you understand it Ask question in the internet.

Nice advice, ur right. but also watch video tutorial online or download the video...
