Please help.

I am currently working for a charitable organization that has asked me to make a client (I was asked because I have the most computer knowledge out of our team, but little knowledge of programming) that resembles an address book. The address book should be customizable in terms of me being able to change colours, put a custom logo etc. The address book would contain fields for inputting, saving, deleting business names, addresses, contact numbers etc. As well as information regarding donations made by that business (example - a field that says: "Last Donation: 07/14/2011 $1,000) I would also need to be able to use the client to search through the contact list by category, ie: businesses would be organized and put into categories according to business type (retail, restaurant, legal etc.) I don't know where to begin with this, so I was hoping someone might be able to direct me to the right place, give me a template that I can work with, or guide me in a way that will assist me in making this on my own.
