Windows Offers $100 per Apps Incentives to Entice Developers

Microsoft Windows made a considerable effort to populate it's app store, by offering a $100 per app with a limit of up to $2,000 for apps published in the Windows and Windows Phone Stores before June 30, 2013. Windows noted that the offer is only limited to legal residents of the 50 US States, aged at least 18 years old and are U.S. registered Windows Store and/or Windows Phone Store Developer. The terms and conditions also state: "Offer good only to the first 10,000 qualified applications published in the Windows Store and/or Windows Phone Store, or until the end of the promotional period, whichever comes first. Limit 10 entries per publisher ID and up to $2,000 per person." The "cash" on offer is also by way of Virtual VISA cards which must be spent online within 6 months of issue. The incentives offered only for US residents caused mixed emotions and disappointments among developers who are not legal residents of the US. Some developers even complaint about the complexity of becoming a certified member or a certified developer for Windows app because of the annual cost of subscription amounting to $99 for business and $49 for an individual. The Windows offers also got negative response among technology news website such as ZDNet which stated that if Windows were serious in getting the apps to their store then they have to remove first the annual subscription. Whatever the negative or positive response with regards to the Windows offers, you can still decide to become a member or not.
