Python Creator Guido van Rossum Leaves BDFL Role

Python is undeniably one of the most prominent and widely-used programming languages existing. Lots of developers prefer to use it for its readability, huge developer ecosystem, simple syntax, and its web framework which is convenient for app development. It is usually used in task automation, data analysis, web development, and mathematical calculation tasks among others. Aside from being an ideal programming language for both beginners and experts in the field of programming, it is also one of the highest-paying programming languages. Python's success in 2017 is really visible. Based on James Bourne's article on Developer, Stack Overflow's analysis even showed that the said programming language has a "solid claim" at being the most progressive. In June, it became the most prominent programming language. In July, the IEEE Spectrum has reportedly tagged Python as the number one programming language for web and enterprise tasks. However, following its success in 2017, it seems that a greater challenge awaits for Python this 2018 as Guido van Rossum, its creator and Benevolent Dictator for Life (BDFL) for 30 years is stepping down from his post. Based on the article, Guido van Rossum will still be available for Python but not anymore as the BDFL but as an "ordinary core developer". Meanwhile, he also expressed a willingness to mentor those who want to learn about the field. "I’m basically giving myself a permanent vacation from being BDFL, and you all will be on your own," he said. The decision of Guido van Rossum came amid the issues over the pushing out the Python Enhancement Proposal. According to the programming language's creator, he is taking himself from the decision process. He also refused to appoint a successor. What can you say about this? Do you believe that Python can still have a successful year without Guido van Rossum as the BDFL? Feel free to drop your comments below. Thank you for visiting our site.
