Windows 8 OS Sold More than 60 Million Licenses

The hottest operating system (OS) from tech giant Microsoft, the Windows 8 OS have already sold more than 60 Million Licenses. The announcement was made during the 11th Annual J.P. Morgan Tech Forum at CES 2013 on January 8, 2013 (ET). According to Windows Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer Tami Reller, the 60 Million figures represents cumulative sales of Windows 8 including both upgrades and sales to OEMs for new devices. The current sales of Windows 8 OS was similar sales trajectory that Microsoft have experienced during the release of Windows 7. According to Tami Reller, they have seen a significant increase in the number of Windows 8 certified systems since it was released last October 2012. There are more than 1,700 certified systems for Windows 8 and Windows RT. During the CES 2013, Microsoft have also highlighted strong growth in developers building for Windows 8. Since the opening of Windows Store the number of apps has quadrupled and already passed the 100 million app download mark with only two months since its released.
